I'm finally having some fun!
- Sunday, September 25, 2005
I had a project group meeting with my commerce course mates last Friday and I was actually dreading to go for that meeting cos I was supposed to go out with chee kian, yanxiang, mabel, joe, daniel, cass and chris for karaoke that evening, just that I last minute recalled about the meeting so I told the rest to go first. But a good thing did indeed come out of the meeting. We were supposed to tell each other something about ourselves and just to talk and bond together and also to brainstorm for ideas for a fantasy project:doing anything we want and just presenting it in class and handing in a 1pg report.Sounds easy right?I actually enjoyed the meeting cos I realised that the pple in my group are so nice and so easy to talk to. Esp this gal called bikii from china but has been living in Vancouver for the past 8 years. She's really friendly and all..and the best part is she lives near the place where my friends were ktving..so she offered to drop me off since she drove!A Mercedes-Benz at that!hah..I had a great time chatting with her during the car ride and stuff..then she was introducing richmond to me(richmond is a place where almost all the Chinese live so much so that it can be called Chinatown!).
Of cos, karaoke was even more shiok! It turned out that they only just started singing cos it takes about 1plus hour to get to richmond(aberdeen centre) from UBC and so I din't really miss much!We started off singing like all the nice, romantic and slow songs then at the end we got so bored that we chose all the upbeat songs and stood up to sing and dance!haha..damn funny..the pple next door looked in quite a few times..they must be thinking we damn high man..ha..we were indeed high from singing!
I was still contemplating whether to join my peer group from orientation to visit the Capilano Suspension bridge in North Vancouver follwed by dinner in downtown on Sat morning. But I decided having fun was more important and I had the whole of Sunday to finish my enormous pile of work!So off I went to Capilano!I finally got the chance to meet Fay again. Fay is this really cool gal from California and she studies at the UC Santa Barbara. Her parents are Taiwanese but she was born in Florida. I like her, not cos she is extremely pretty or anything but she has the X-factor!She's fun to be with and she doesn't laugh but giggles which is so cute!ha..We took lots of photos together and gorged on food man..We ate dinner at this famous chinese place called Hon's and truly the food there is authentic man! I ordered wanton and shrimp&meat dumpling noodle in soup and it was such a huge portion! THey gave like 4pieces of wanton and 4pieces of dumpling and it was really stuffed with fillings! One of the best I've tasted! And I ate it with the "crystal jade" chilli which is my favourite tim sum chilli and I've never felt happier!Though we were really stuffed after that, we couldnt resist having Mondo gelato which is really famous here!It costs $3.25 for a single scoop on a waffle cone but it sure was worth it! I had giandula and bistrottino(i think that's how u spell it)--both are made from some form of chocolate and cookie and it tasted amazingly gd even though I was really freezing cold while eating it!I think I'll try all the flavours they have before leaving here..hehe..I'm one happy girl having had my gelato!
Capilano was not bad but there were so many of us that it was quite difficult trying to get everyone moving.Getting there is even more complicated. We had to take a bus to waterfront station and take the seabus(a ferry) to the North Vancouver then take another bus to Capilano suspension bridge. The whole journey took about one and a half hours! The company was more important I guess..=)I had a good time and that's most important!I'm gonna try to finish all my work today if not I'm dead..sigh..alright I'll leave you guys with some photos of North Vancouver!
 Fay!
