Day 3 of my Chicago trip ( Part Three)...
- Tuesday, November 22, 2005
This posting is really backdated since I was in Chicago like about 3 weeks back already..But Yik just sent me photos yesterday so it's time again to blog about my trip...I woke up really late the third day that I was in Chicago. The weather there is also really good and Yik has his window blinds down so I wouldn't know when it's morning since no sunlight can enter..but anyway after I woke up, Yik had to finish up his homework so I made a trip to explore downtown-the heart of Chicago. I also wanted to go shopping but as you can tell later, things in US shopping malls are really expensive and so I ended up with basically nothing..ha...
Got off at Chicago train station...and the whole street is basically a shopping district with many high-rise buildings...Below are some random pictures that I took...
 A puppet show going on...
 A horse carriage...
 Two absolutely beautiful dogs
 Lamp posts decorated for Halloween!
A congratulatory msg to the White Sox from the Mayor of Chicago!
Pictures of churches in Downtown - one of them is a Catholic Church but I can't remember which one.

 Really busy traffic...
Some exciting shops that I saw....
American Girl Place is a really cool and huge (3 storeys!) shop selling many different kinds of dolls with accompanying dresses and accessories. There was even a theatre inside featuring a cartoon on American dolls.
The first Victoria's Secret that I've stepped into..but things in there were awfully ex...couldn't afford pretty much everything...ha...
You can get cheap stuff at old navy..but the selection did not seem as good as the one in Vancouver so I didn't get anything as well.
 Everyone's favourite abercrombie and fitch!
An extremely large shop selling "Hershey's chocolates!"

This chocolate machines allow you to choose whatever kinds of chocolates you wanted and then all of it will be transported down the machine into a nice little bucket.

The Cheesecake factory..I heard the cheesecakes are really ex but super duper yummy! I shall try it when I go to the States in December again..ha..
 A tourist attraction in Chicago...
The only two things that I bought from Downtown Chicago - A willy wonka chocolate for Anne as her birthday present and a SpongeBob Jolly Elf from The Beanie Babies Collection for Benjy!ha...Pathetic..but at least I got something...

After touring around downtown in the afternoon, Yik and his friends met me later in the evening so we could all go Navy Pier for dinner together.
Some random photos of Navy Pier...
Chicago Children's Museum

 Navy Pier's Funhouse Maze

 Chicago's Shakespeare theater...
Dinner at the food court followed by dessert - Jason and I shared Ben&Jerry's ice-cream!

Navy Pier's 150 foot high Ferris Wheel...

On board the Ferris Wheel!(Yik, me and Jason)
Night View of Chicago skyscrapers taken from the Ferris Wheel..
Smith Museum with some amazing stained glass masterpieces...Here's some of them...

After that, we headed down to Millenium Park..took a bus and walked for quite a distance before we reached our destination..But on the way there, I managed to capture more shots of Chicago's amazing architecture...

 Millenium Park...
This structure is called Cloud Gate sculpture and it is supposed to reflect the skyline of Chicago at night. But I guess my camera couldn't really capture the beauty of it...
Pritzker Pavilion by Frank Gehry is the centerpiece of Millennium Park. It's supposed to look like this in the day...the night view of it really sucked so I did not take any pictures too..ha...
It was a big occassion for the country as White Sox from the south side finally won the championships after 88 years...

Crown Fountain, water is supposed to squirt out from this picture..again..I missed it!ha...
Within walking distance from Millenium Park is the famous Buckingham Fountain, located in Grant Park

By the end of this day, I was really tired cos I totally squeezed so many sightseeing places into one day..ha...But I have to admit that Chicago is indeed really beautiful at night. The skyscrapers in this city is totally amazing...I'm happy to have visited this place..=)
