My Chicago Trip (Part Two)...
    - Tuesday, November 01, 2005

On my second day in Chicago, I was pretty much left by myself cos Yik had lessons till 1plus and then he had to go see a teacher till about 2plus and do his work for most of the afternoon. It was a good thing that Calvin was around and he signed me in at the dining hall so I could have my lunch there free-of charge! The food there was so good man..And the best thing was it was not pay as you eat kinda thing. He just had to sign me in and I could eat anything and everything I wanted. So I helped myself to chicken chop, broccoli with pasta and fries. Was really tempted by the cookies and cream ice-cream with toppings but I managed to stop myself from gorging too much on sweet stuff..ha..Calvin even introduced me to his friends so that I could sit with them while he went off for his classes.

After lunch, I decided to explore the campus and Jason(another of Yik's friends)was really hospitable and offered to bring me around campus. The following photos will just leave you in awe of this beautiful place...

The Oriental Institute

Rockerfella Memorial Chapel

Welcome to the world of Harry Potter...

Harper Library...

It was a good thing that Yik also passed me his handphone so that he could contact me later on so I had spare time at hand till 6plus that evening.I decided to take a bus down to Museum campus to take a look. The previous night, the bus 6 passed by that area and I noticed that there were so many awesome buildings there so it had to be a famous attraction of some sort. I was really amazed by the view man...Let the photos speak for themselves...

I tried taking this photo with the statue behind but obviously it failed..only managed to capture myself!=)

I took the bus back to the University of Chicago after the Museum Campus tour to meet Yik so that we could go to his friend Bryan's place for dinner. Bryan was having this mini dinner gathering with all the Singaporeans students at UOC, with about 10plus people turning up. His girlfriend Jiahui cooked for us and it was really quite a wide spread. There was fried rice, fried chicken wings, meatballs with tomato sauce and beef patties. We even ended up watched Infernal Affairs 1 after dinner and though I watched that movie before, I still enjoyed it and gained better insights with regards to the storyline. We just sat around and chatted a little after that and it was back to Yik's hostel for a good night's rest.

Though I was left by myself for a big part of this day, it led me to the realization that I actually like travelling to places on my own and I did enjoy the freedom I had. Although it would have been better to have someone else beside me to help me take photos and all, being alone might not be a bad idea after all. At least it taught me to be more independent, adapatable and alert to my surroundings. I'm finally growing up...
