Finally...the Los Angeles experience...
    - Saturday, May 27, 2006

I figured that since it's the holidays, I better try to post photos of my LA and New York City trip since if I don't do it now, I might not have time to blog about it when school starts. This is super overdue la..but I don't care..hahah..need to blog about it so that I will remember it next time..So please give face and read k..=)So first up is LA...

View from the plane..Leaving Las Vegas and flying off to the happening city of Los Angeles

What is below is none other than the Grand Canyon..too bad I din't have the time or money to go visit it..

I've finally reached Hollywood!ok..this picture does not really prove that I was in LA..haha..this was taken at some Christmas bazaar thingy near my hostel.

In the mood for Christmas!

Presenting the Kodak Theatre..obviously I wasn't bluffing when I said I reached Hollywood!=)

Hollywood Boulevard

Joined some USA hostel conducted tour around Bel Air and Beverly Hills, an expensive residential area where famous people live..

Danny Devito's house...that's the only one I know..as for the other houses, I forgot whom they belong to already...

But anyway, these houses are huge man!Of course, they are worth millions too..

A pretty little pink house, almost looks unreal..

Beverly Hills Hotel... I look sleepy in this picture man!Awful!!

After the tour, we walked over to Rodeo Drive, an expensive shopping area where the rich and famous shop...

Even their street lights have to be chandeliers...

The exquisite exterior of the shops...

with brands like Versace!

Still in Rodeo Drive...not shopping of course...but just snapping more pictures...

Waiting for the bus at Santa Monica Boulevard

and heading down to none other than Santa Monica Beach!

Will leave you with a few pictures of this beach..wasn't a very nice beach but the crowd was pretty happening la..nice atmosphere and stuff..=)

Viewing the sunset at Santa Monica Beach...

The amusement park at the beach...

Sunset at Santa Monica Beach..pretty romantic...

An artistic shot..haha..think my photography skills are not bad eh?

Third Street Promenade in the night..another shopping area..not as expensive as Rodeo Drive but still I was on a budget trip so just basically looked around the area for awhile..

After that, headed back to our hostel early so that we will have energy for Disneyland the following day..But of course, we treated ourselves to ice-cream for supper first befor going to bed!YUM!

Welcome to Disneyland, Anaheim..

Our first ride for the day..The Peter Pan flight!

Here's how it looks like!

2nd ride of the day with the shortest queue..Mr Toad's Wild Ride...

The other queues were incredibly long so in the end...we set off for Mickey's Toontown..

with cute little houses and shops..

like the bank...

and the ice-cream shop..

and many others...

The weather that day was brilliant as we entered Minnie's pretty little pink house..

Inside Minnie Mouse's house..

Her nicely decorated kitchen!

Of course we also took photos with MINNIE MOUSE!I went to Tokyo Disneyland when it first opened but did not manage to take photos with Disney characters because it was super crowded..so I am finally realizing my childhood dream here at Disneyland, Anaheim..Giving Minnie a big hug!=)

Next up we went to Mickey Mouse's house of course..

where we saw a piano..

and in Mickey's movie barn we saw...

two cute chickens..

and after an extremely long wait, I finally saw MICKEY MOUSE!

We also caught sight of Pluto later on...we were like kids man..rushing towards Pluto to take photographs with him...

Third ride for the day:Big thunder mountain railroad...

Haunted Mansion...

Jungle Cruise

Queued up for like nearly 2 hours just to sit the SPACE MOUNTAIN!

The best ride was the Indiana Jones ride...a roller coaster ride that can go backwards!

"It's a small world" ride...this is the only ride I remembered taking in Tokyo Disneyland.

Balloons for sale!

The finale was the best part, starting with the parade of dreams where all the characters paraded on their floats and then ending with a massive fireworks display.
This is truly indeed the "Happiest Homecoming on earth"!

It was already about 10pm when we left Disneyland...so we actually spent the whole day from about 9am to 10pm at Disneyland!Had to make the expensive ticket worth it man..Anyway our journey back was really adventurous. We took a wrong bus, so ended up at some quiet street and we didn't know how to get back to our hostel. Then we met this really strange guy at the bustop who kept talking to us and told us if we needed help in getting back.He offered to help us get a cab for US$7.Of course, we found it hard to believe him, since we know cab fare in US is so freaking ex..He acted as if he was really genuine in helping people like us in a foreign land..but eventually we just had to give in cos we had no idea what bus to take back to our hostel.

In the end, we got onto a cab and he told us he and the driver came to an agreement that the cab ride would cost US$20. In the cab,the driver asked us how we got to know that guy and told us to be careful of such weird people.I think both of them are in cahoots man..not pretending to know each other kind of thing..The driver even told us that the street that we were on was very dangerous, people often got shot down there ..when we heard that, think we all counted our blessings of being safe man...It was really an experience..Lucky thing the cab driver brought us back safely to our hostel as well which we found was actually not that far away..haha..

Came back to shower and then have a good rest cos we were going to go UNIVERSAL STUDIOS the next day!Universal studios just had basically more rides, more characters to take photos with as well as shows to watch like The Animal Planet(Live) and Amazing Race...

Marilyn Monroe!

Joe looks really happy here!

The car in TOO FAST TOO FURIOUS!

The Incredible Hulk!

Van Helsing..We entered this building where they displayed the props used in the movie and the whole area was really dark, pretty much like a haunted house where you had people scaring you from time to time..

"The Revenge of the Mummy" ride!

Some of the "shops" at universal studios that were used in past movies..

Jack in a Box!

A really familiar looking phone booth but I have no idea which movie I saw it in..haha...

Some of the other attractions we went to included the Terminator 2:3D screening where the special effects were really great, visited the War of the Worlds actual sets, saw the houses in Desperate Housewives and many other places that were used for the filming of movies. However since we only went on the studio tours when the sky was already dark, therefore I couldnt capture clear and bright shots of these places...such a pity man...

With the guys from Apollo 13

Everyone's favourite Spongebob!

KING KONG!!!

Me with a penguin from I have no idea which movie..haha..

Princess Fiona...

I love this poster!

Left Universal studios at night...and headed back to our hostel...

That basically sums up our super short stay in LA...Apart from Disneyland and Universal Studios, did not really have a good impression of LA with its extremely dirty and smelly streets, not so friendly people, and my precious Body Shop body foam was cleared by the hostel staff when it was like three quarters full and I still had one more night stay!Best!Next up will post about New York..so keep watching this space!!
