Day 1 - Day 4: Cairns!!!

We spent 4 full days in Cairns,and really Cairns has nothing much to offer except for the Great Barrier Reef.It's just a bigger version of Sentosa..So unless you really love water sports like snorkelling and diving, Cairns is the place for you. But I guess it was worth goin to Cairns for us as it was really relaxing, basically we just spent the time going to places and looking at scenery and taking the time to enjoy the day...I even told myself that the money I brought can now be used fully for shopping in Melbourne since Cairns' shopping was truly pathetic...=)

During the first day, we just walked around the streets and decided on the program for the next few days. On the second day, we took a tour bus which brought us to Port Douglas which was a small town about an hour drive from Cairns. It was there we trekked for about 2 hours at the Mossman Gorge and saw loads of trees...ha..A rather good exercise I must admit.

On the third day, we rented a car and drove out to the scenic areas away from Cairns city centre. We saw numerous waterfalls and admired the beautiful scenery - huge grasslands and hills with cows and horses...We had our lunch and tea packed in the car so it was indeed a day out spent in nature...

The fourth day in Cairns definitely had to be spent at the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world..It was terribly hot, almost painful in fact..so I just kept applying sunblock lotion repeatedly since I had previously learnt my lesson of not getting sunburnt again! Didn't want to go through the agony of peeling my skin everyday and bearing with the pain again...
