The first two days in shopping paradise!
- Sunday, January 06, 2008
In a hot pink taxi heading to Cha Tu Chak! That was the first place we went upon landing in Bangkok!
The taxi colours in Bangkok are super duper bright...very pretty...but I can't really say anything good about the taxi drivers...encountered quite a few horrible drivers...Either they drive way too fast, talk too much, or try to cheat your money.
Spent most of our weekend at the Cha Tu Chak Market! It is seriously one of the dirtiest places I've been to..A lot of rubbish just thrown into the drains, lots of mosquitoes, extremely hot and humid but definitely one of the best shopping places in Bangkok..

Simply love being surrounded by clothes!
The human traffic jam near Cha Tu Chak train station..
Dinner in the city, near Siam Paragon...at a Thai Restaurant called Ban Khun Mae..

 Set dinner for 2....
Followed by dessert: Mango Slices with Sticky Rice.
You can just tell how sweet the managoes are by that look on his face...
Walked around the area after dinner and did some more shopping of course...

At about 9pm, all the roadside shops start to open as well..The stuff sold there are really not bad too..

The Christmas decorations at Siam Paragon, one of the newer high-end shopping centres in Bangkok.

Me, him and the DKNY "Be Delicious" fragrance poster...What I got him for Christmas last year..

 More reindeers
 and snowflakes..

On the second day of our trip, we attended Mass at Holy Redeemer Church. The architecture of the church was very temple-like, more suited to the Thai culture I guess.

Just check out the altar...everything in gold..
Headed to Cha Tu Chak for the second time after Mass to complete my shopping there..=)
This time, we covered more lanes and saw more stuff...such as rabbits, dogs and cats being sold for ridiculously cheap prices..
Rabbits being cooped up in such small cages...
Many breed of puppies for sale...

The clock tower at Cha Tu Chak.

Had beef noodles for lunch which was not that great and in my opinion rather over-priced for that small amount of noodles and beef..
It was so hot that day that I actually gave up shopping there after lunch..Both of us decided to just head to an air-conditioned place to rest our legs and have dessert...We eventually ended up at good old Swensons...which was really cheap! Our brownie with ice-cream and one sundae cost us just 7 sing dollars!

To avoid the sun for the rest of the day, we decided to spend the afternoon watching the movie "I am Legend". It was a good movie, go watch it if you can..Will Smith definitely deserves credit for being the solo actor in the movie..
When the sun finally set, it was time again to do more shopping...More clothes and more shoes to come!

Thai food for dinner again...Had my favourite Tom Yum soup and he had Red Curry...Total cost:$11.

After dinner shopping at Little Siam...

Finally, a Tuk-Tuk ride back to our hotel to rest for the night...
